Curling Alberta - Women In Curling Summit

Curling Alberta used their Take the Lead to support their Women In Curling Summit - held  September 15, 2024 in Leduc. This summit was lead by nine of the top women coaches in Alberta and Canada. The Summit was designed to empower, inspire and equip Albertan girls and women with the tools needed to become experienced leaders in the sport of curling. This event saw 48 enthusiastic participants take part in specialized instruction aimed at advancing coaching skills and fostering lifelong commitment to the sport as a competitor, coach, umpire, and/or volunteer.

The Women in Curling Summit addresses several barriers that have historically limited women's involvement in sport, including access to high-level coaching, mentorship, and visible role models. The leadership team that was assembled to host this event was second to none and we are very fortunate to have their support of this event. By providing a dedicated space for women and girls to receive advanced training and connect with experienced mentors, the summit helped bridge the gap in skill development and leadership opportunities. The summit fostered a supportive environment where participants could network, share experiences and gain confidence!
