Ringette for All - Spruce Grove Ringette Association

In 2024/2025, the Spruce Grove Ringette Association continued to offer Ringette For All (RFA), an inclusive ringette program for children ages 5-18 with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. This program was open to all and occurs weekly in Spruce Grove. The funding was used to reduce costs and add an additional ice time as there was a large demand for the program. With funding and other fundraising, they were able to reduce the cost to participants by 66% this year. The team staff supervise and run the weekly practices working on skills such as skating, stopping, passing, checking, and shooting. In addition the team was able to acquire sledges to support the participation of children that have physical or cognitive disabilities impacting their ability to use skates.

This unique partnership within the association also supports the opportunity for local youth/teen ringette players to gain leadership and volunteer experience as buddies by helping to assist the program each week. The RFA players build connections with their peers on our team each practice, as well as with their buddies who accompany the group for each ice time and are from the other teams in the association. This year there were 18 participants in the RFA program with over 100 volunteers supporting the program over the season.
